Matthew Williams is MOP’s Artistic Director. He balances his time between New York and LA. He is instrumental in the development of all MOP products and says that “what I love about mop is that the products are simple. They do what they say they do. So many hairdressers tend to over-think things, but with mop, you can’t, each product has a purpose and that’s all there is to it.” Matthew is also instrumental in determining MOP’s annual Modern Direction, otherwise known as MOP’s look in hair and fashion for the year. On his approach to cutting and styling Matthew believes “It’s what I haven’t done as opposed to what I’ve done that makes hair beautiful. Modern hairdressing encompasses a person’s entire image, from head-to-toe. It’s about lifestyle and sending the client home with a cut that is manageable.” Matthew Williams works closely with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars including Sarah Jessica Parker, Debra Messing, Daryl Hannah and Rosanna Arquette. He balances his time between MOP and session work on behalf of MOP.
